At Orleans Technical College, you can earn your Trades Diploma in just 8 or 14 months and take the first step toward an exciting career in Building Maintenance. Our career training course is hands-on so that you gain the skills that employers are looking for!
You can develop a wide range of handy skills—from carpentry, electrical, plumbing, A/C and heating to painting, tiling and appliance repair—needed to maintain and renovate homes, residential properties and commercial buildings. Orleans graduates can enter the field as a maintenance mechanic, handling site operations, in apartment complexes, health care facilities, and industrial establishments.
Financial aid is available for those who qualify. A high school diploma or equivalent is required to apply. A driver’s license is recommended to travel for jobs post-graduation.
Program Objective
Orleans Tech’s Building Maintenance program teaches diversified skills needed to maintain and renovate commercial and residential properties. Students are taught basic skills in electricity, carpentry, plumbing, heating and air conditioning maintenance. Training also includes painting, papering, and tiling. Students acquire skills in appliance repair, and they receive an introduction to Green Technology and Energy Efficiency in the trades. Students are instructed in safety precautions in the performance of building maintenance tasks, with an emphasis on the proper use of hand and power tools.

Employment Opportunities
Graduates are prepared for entry-level employment as maintenance mechanics in apartment complexes, healthcare facilities, industrial establishments, and commercial buildings.

Industry Certification
Students in this program are eligible to receive industry-recognized certification from NOCTI upon successful completion of certification exams. Students will be eligible to earn the OSHA-10 safety certification, which is the construction industry recognized credential. https://www.careersafeonline.com/
